In the year 2012 The circuit of the Americas saw the return of formula 1 race in United States with the all new venue in Austin, Texas.The formula 1 race returned to U.S.after the gap of nearly five years.The circuit of the Americas was opened by COTA ambassador and the former formula one world
champion, Mario Andretti.
The circuit is located in southeast of Texan capital and is 5.5kms in length and the 20-turn anticlockwise track make it more challenging and
spectacular in the world.The seating capacity at the cicruit of the americas is around 120,000 and is designed on 900 acres of land.
Lewis Hamilton became the first formula one driver to win a grand prix at Austin.But the most successful driver at the United States Grand Prix
has been the former world champion, Michael Schumacher who has won here on five occassions (2000,2003,2004,2005 and 2006).The contract was signed between the Austin,Texas authorities and the formula one president Bernie Ecclestone that the race would remain in Austin until 2021.
