Formula 1 - Budapest - Hungary
The first Formula 1 grand prix to be hosted in Hungary was in the year 1930,but as the world war11 beagan and with the building of Iron Curtain, motor sport in hungary returned back only in the year 1960.
At the begining of 1980 there was a proposal for the grand prix to be held behind the Iron Curtain and the talks began with the soviet union with
a view to a race being held in moscow.However in 1983 the attention of the formula one authorities turned away from moscow towards Budapest in hungary.
Finally in the year 1985 the decision was taken to build a new circuit in a valley 19Kms outside Budapest, and when the track was opened in the year 1986,the first formula 1 grand prix took part and it turned out to be a big success and nearly 200,000 fans showed up.
The other notable occasions in Budapest include the first grand prix win for Damon Hill in 1993, Fernando Alonso became the first grand prix winner
from spain in 2003,he also became the youngest ever driver to win a grand prix race.In 2001 Michael Schumacher equalled Alain Prost's than record of 51 wins at the Hungaroring, he also secured his 4th world title which also matched prost's carrer tally.In 2009 it also entered in aggrement to host the formula one race until 2016.
