Formula 1 - Sakhir - Bahrain
The First ever Formula One Race in Bahrain was held in the year 2004,which was sponsored by Gulf Air.This was also the first ever formula one race to be held in the Middle East,and it was also awarded by the FIA for the "Best Organised Grand Prix."
The first race in the year 2004 was won by Michael Schumacher for Ferrari.Fernando Alonso won the second race held in the year 2005 and than repeated his featagain the following year.In 2007 and 2008 Brazil's Felipe Massa won the race for Ferrari,2009 saw Jenson Button win the Grand Prix and after his 2010 victory,Alonso became the first three time winner.
The 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix which was scheduled for 13th March was cancelled due to the Bahraini protests, there were also the talks of rescheduling the race but the all the talks failed and finally the Bahrain 2011 Grand Prix was cancelled.Human Right activists also called for the cancellation of 2012 GP race,but this time the race took off and Sebastian Vettel made his mark in the Middle East by winning the Grand Prix Race 2012.
