In 1993 Melbourne Businessman Ron Walker Wanted to bring the Formula One to Melbourne, he set up his talks with the Kennett government about bringing formula 1 to the city of melbourne which ended in a positive reply,a huge undisclosed amount was spent to rebuilt Albert park street circuit in Melbourne.
Finally in the year 1996 the formula 1 race was held at the Albert Street park in Mebourne.
The First race at the Melbourne city saw a huge crowd of more than 4,00,000 people,which remain the record for the event.since than the formula 1 race has become very popular in melbourne and the same atmosphere was felt here like in the Adelaide City.This has now been continued here from year after year.
